ISO Rating Change
The membership of the West Yadkin Volunteer Fire Department would like to announce that we have been able to change our ISO rating from a 9s to a combination 6 / 9s. This is for the new waterline from Jonesville starting in our fire district at US 21 near Swaim's Church Road to West Yadkin Elementary School and on to Lydall. If you live within 1000 feet of a new hydrant your eligible for a decrease in your homeowners insurance. All other residents outside of the 1000 feet of the water line are classified as a 9s, unless your 6 miles outside of our department then you would be classified as a 10 or "unprotected."
Those included are on US 21 Hwy from Swaim's Church Rd to Brooks Crossroads following Old US 421 West to Jim West Drive passing under US 421 to Rocky Branch Road west of the first hydrant to Interstate 77, passing under I-77 to Brown Road west to Buck Shoals Road north to Lydall.
An ISO Classification is a rating assigned by the Insurance Services Organization (ISO) to evaluate a fire department’s service capabilities based within its physical boundary areas. Many insurance companies utilize this rating in determining the cost of homeowner insurance policies. Not all companies use this rating system, contact your local insurance agent to determine how ISO ratings affect your policy.
