Engine 1801

2006 Pierce Arrow XT

Engine 1801 is a 6-man cab with a 1500 GMP Waterous Pump and a 750 gallon poly tank. Engine 1801 carries equipment for fire suppression operations and basic vehicle/machinery rescue. Engine 1801 responds first out in the West Yadkin Fire District on all structural calls and alarms as well as all hazardous condition calls such as gas leaks. Engine 1801 also carries equipment for EMS personnel use on medical emergencies.

Tanker 1803

1995 International Semo

Tanker 1803 has a 2-man cab and a 1000 GMP Hale pump and a 2000 gallon stainless steel elliptical tank. It carries basic fire suppression equipment and a 2000 gallon portable water tank/drop tank. Tanker 1803 is responsible for water shuttle operations in rural water areas of West Yadkin and in mutual aid areas of rural water. Tanker 1803 responds second out in West Yadkin in rural water areas and first out on mutual aid in rural water areas.

Engine 1804

2003 Pierce Dash Rescue Engine

Engine 1804 is an 8-man cab custom Rescue Engine with a 2000 GPM Waterous Pump and a 750 gallon poly tank. Engine 1804 carries fire suppression tools and equipment to perform duties as an engine company and also carries a large compliment of rescue equipment including hydraulic rescue tools, struts, high lift jacks, and cribbing for vehicle and machinery accidents, high angle rope rescue, water rescue, and rapid intervention. Engine 1804 features several utilities to assist on the fireground including a large telescoping light tower, in and out of cab head-set communications, an on-board generator, electrical cord reels, air line reels, a cascade system and filling station, and built in hydraulic rescue tool reels. Engine 1804 responds as the primary rescue company in West Yadkin's area as well as on structure fires and alarms. Engine 1804 is set up to respond to medical calls and also responds to mutual aid calls when needed.

Engine 1804 was purchased in September 2013 from Paoli Fire Company where it served from 2003-2013 as Engine 3-1.

Tower Ladder 18

1996 Pierce Arrow 100' Aerial Platform

Ladder 18 is a 6-man cab 100' Aerial Platform. Ladder 18 features a 100' steel ladder and has the capability of flowing 2 masterstreams from the platform along with an attack line for deploying into upper floors of structures. The truck has supplied breathing air to the platform as well. The platform also features a 500 lb winch to allow for quick hoisting and lowering of equipment where needed. Ladder 18 has a 2000 GPM Waterous pump and a 300 gallon tank. In addition, Ladder 18 has a 7.5 kw on board generator and a large amount of scene lighting. Along with a full compliment of ground ladders, hydraulic rescue tools, rescue struts, cribbing, and other equipment for vehicle and machinery extrication. Ladder 18 is also carries high angle rope rescue equipment, and additional firefighting and rescue equipment for Ladder Company operations such as saws, fans, hooks, and other various hand tools.

Brush 1814

2004 Ford F-550

Brush 1814 is the primary unit for brush, grass, and woods fires in West Yadkin and on mutual aid calls. 1814 has a 3-man cab and has a 150 GPM pump and a 300 gallon tank. It carries various equipment for wildland fire suppression operations. 1814 responds first out in and out of district for wildland fire calls and first out to trees blocking roads.

Engine 1802

1989 Mack Grumman

Engine 1802 has a 2-man cab and a 1250 GPM Waterous Pump and a 1000 gallon poly tank. Engine 1802 responds as a waterpoint truck outside of the West Yadkin Fire District. The apparatus is set up to fill tankers from both rural water points and municipal water points. 1802 also responds to mutual aid either first or second out depending on the method of water supply in the respective area and depending on staffing. Engine 1802 responds to helicopter LZs for air medical helicopters as well. Engine 1802 also serves as a reserve engine company in the event of other Engines being out of service.

QRV 1815

2004 Ford F-350

1815 is the departments medical truck and responds to EMS/medial calls in the district. 1815 carries state of the art medical equipment for BLS. The truck has equipment for advanced scope medical providers including advanced airways and medications. 1815 is also part of the water rescue unit.

Car 18 - Duty Officer Vehicle

2006 Ford Expedition 4x4

This unit functions as a command vehicle for officers of the department or assigned duty or shift officers. This apparatus carries equipment to aid incident commanders in incident command and coordination of emergency scenes. The vehicle also carries extra SCBAs, extinguishers, and medical equipment.

Boat 18

2014 Zodiac FC 470

Boat 18 is powered by 1 of our 2 Johnson 55hp outboard motors. The craft is a Zodiac FC 470 Inflatable boat. It is 15' 5" long and has a maximum payload of 2,756 pounds. It can carry up to 10 persons. The boat has 4 separate air chambers that can easily be filled with SCBA cylinders, and in the event of a chamber failure, can continue to operate. The craft is very maneuverable and an excellent craft for open water and swift water rescue. Boat 18 can be quickly deployed to flooding, swift water, or open water related rescues or evacuations. Along with the boat, the department carries additional equipment such as rope and hardware, throwbags, and additional equipment. The department also has PPE for rescuers such as PFDs, helmets,and dry suits.

Rescue / Service 1818

1988 Mack

Rescue / Service 1818 is has a 3-man cab with a 20' Hackney Rescue Body. The apparatus carries various tools for rescue incidents as well as support equipment for fire suppression operations. Rescue / Service 1818 served was a rescue and support truck for the department up until 2014. The apparatus was retired with the addition of Rescue Engine 1804 being followed by Tower Ladder 18. Both these apparatus absorbed certain roles of 1818.

Ladder 18

1988 American LaFrance

Ladder 18 originally was a 1951 ladder for the city of Charlotte, the apparatus was refurbished by Huntersville Fire Department to the equivalent of a 1988 model. Ladder 18 is an 85' mid-mount aerial ladder with a 1000 GPM Hale pump, with no water tank. L-18 is a 5-man cab, 2 SCBA equipped seats. L-18 has the capability of flowing 2 elevated master streams. Purchased by West Yadkin from HFD in 2006, Ladder 18 served as the first ladder company for West Yadkin. Ladder 18 was finally retired and replaced in 2014 by Tower Ladder 18. At its retirement from service Ladder 18 was the oldest operating Ladder (by age) in the county, but in its 8 years with West Yadkin had operated on more working fires than any other Ladder in the county.

Engine 1804

1972 Ford

After 41 years of service Engine 1804 was retied in September 2013. The apparatus was the primary Engine Company for the department from 1972 to 1989. The apparatus would then serve as the second pumper until 2006, when it then went to primarily reserve status. It did continue to respond to wildland fires and to set up dry hydrants. 1804 was the longest serving single apparatus for the department. 1804 was a 3-man cab and a 750 GPM John Bean pump and had a 500 gallon water tank.
